This Tuesday 8/30
This Tuesday meet at 4:00pm at the church. Did you read that?
4:00 pm this Thursday is a change. It is supposed to rain, so I figured that going to the Beach isn't top on everyone's priority list. Instead we are going to just go to Angel's house straight from the church.
I only have 14 spots, so if you want to go, you HAVE to let me know.
Thanks,
J-Wild
Phat 108 & Summer's Over!
This Thursday meet at 4:00pm at the church. For this PHAT 108 we are going to get together, hang out, and then help out the Illumine service. DJ asked if we would man the table where people are going to make sack lunches for the poor and homeless. Part of the service is that everyone is going to do something as part of our call to be involved in Social Justice. So the youth group is going to help run the sack lunch table where people will be making lunches to give to people as they leave the illumine service. Also Brittany and Soeuraya are singing in the service so we will be there to support them as well. Please bring some money for pizza, and see ya on Thursday. One more thing, Dateline NBC did a whole report on Northern Uganda and about the children there. You can read the article
here. The article talks about all of the things we know because of our movie. Check it.
Before the Showdown We had an absolutely great time on the Mystery Road Trip, despite being rained out of our camp site. Things I won't forget:
"Cold blooded..."
"I got shot 9 times!"
"What are Grits?"
"My googles are foggy."
"The water is warm right here!"
"Left, left, left...now Right! Right!"
"We're from NYC we don't play like that!"
"I wish I had that AK-47!"
"It's at 60%"
"Spoooons"
What could we possibly do as a follow up? Well I have planned something for this coming Tuesday which will be our last event of the summer. So SAD! Anyway, all you have to do is click
here and you will find out how we plan to end the summer. I hope many of you can come, and please let me know if you will be coming to the event.
See you on Thursday.
This Tuesday 8-23
Fulfilling my promise to you, we will be seeing
Red Eye this Tuesday (8/23). Surprisingly enough it has gotten great reviews and should be a lot of fun for us to go see. Click the link above to read the reviews.
Meet at the church at 12:00 pm. We will get slices of pizza and then try to catch the 1:20 pm showing at the
Lowes E-Walk theater at 42nd Street.
*IMPORTANT* bring your own money to pay for your own admission and lunch. I (or I should say the church) will not be buying your ticket. If you have a real problem affording this fine film, e-mail or call to let me know BEFORE YOU COME, and I can work things out for you. But if you show up without money, I will not buy your ticket. I love you though
See you on Tuesday!

Mystery Road Trip...Updated
So here is the update on our trip. The map to the left is a map of the campground we will be staying at. We are located less than 300 feet away from the beach, showers, and bathrooms! And our three campsites are completely covered in shade from trees, so it won't be too hot. The three orange X's are where our sites are.
We will be going rafting at 11:00 am on Friday morning and it will last all day. Then we play paintball all day on Saturday. The best news is that the trip has gotten cheaper! Instead of $75 it's now $65, and that still includes everything but your spending money. There are only five spots left, so if you want to go let me know soon.
Movie Tuesday
March of the Penquins Tomorrow we will get together to go watch this movie. It is supposed to be really good. We will meet at the church by 11:30 am so we can get a little snack and then catch the 1pm showing at East 85th Street theater.
It's going to be good, so hopefully I will see you all there!
So Proud
You raised $790.00 yesterday!
I cannot tell you how proud I am of all of you! Total we raised
$1,122.04 if you include the donation from Cartoon Pizza, the painting auction, and Sarah Berroa's walk-a-thon. Besides the money we had a total of about 65 people who came for the screening of the movie and about 35 kids and adults during the children's art and film festival.
All of this money will go directly to "Invisible Children" to help the kids we saw on the movie. You all did such a great job baking, setting up, cleaning up, doing arts and crafts, running sound and video, planning, selling, organizing, wrapping, pricing, and welcoming people. You all definately let the light of Christ shine through you by spending 12 hours serving the children of Africa. Thank you for all your hard work.
